ENP-China in China
Lu Yijun, a doctoral candidate at Shanghai Normal University, just published a nice presentation of the ENP-China project in China. His paper is based on his experience as a doctoral intern in the project between July 2023 and January 2024. The paper, titled 从数字人文视角看“近代中国的精英、网络与权力” was published in “The Paper” — 澎湃 in Chinese.
During his internship, Lu Yijun worked on a corpus that he built himself by collecting, typing and curating interviews of Shanghai workers made in the 1950s. Using HistText to extract data from the text, Lu Yijun implemented various methodologies to explore the content of the interviews, especially topic modeling. He was also able to reconstitute the links between the biographies and the individuals through network analysis.
